The sun has been shining and we have been busy. As the school summer holidays approach we will be quietening down a little. This doesn’t mean there is nothing on during July and August but we will be having some time to rest.
Thursday 13th July (9:30am) we have Nursery Rhymes for the under 5’s with their grown ups. Come along and sing, dance and shake. We’ll be taking August off but will be back 14th September, 12th October, 9th November and 14th December so get the dates in your diary and be ready for lots of fun.
Sunday 16th July (4:30pm) will be Tea Time Church – a fun, friendly, family service with a bring and share tea to follow. All are welcome whether young or old so why not come along and enjoy some time together as a church family.
Friday 21st July will be the last Coffee Morning of the Summer but we will be back serving teas, coffees and occasionally cakes and other delicious goodies from 15th September.
As we did last year we’ll be heading over to Langley Park for a fun day out (if it’s dry) on Thursday 17th August, meeting from about 11:00am and sticking around for a few hours. Bring your picnic, Frisbee, deck chairs, picnic blanket and come hangout in the park. If it’s raining we’ll keep dry and stay at home… check the website/ facebook on the day if you are unsure.
Join us in Standing Together
as one community in solidarity with those impacted by the tragic events at London Bridge and Borough Market.
Saturday 10th June 2017, 6pm
Colham Avenue, Yiewsley UB7 8HF
We will stand together, take time to be quiet, to remember all those impacted by the attacks; especially all victims and their loved one, witnesses and those called in to provide protection, help and support.
Standing Together (10th June 2017)
There have been a number of nasty attacks and a spate of knife crimes in recent weeks and we want to help people feel reassured about safety, what the police are doing and plan to do, and the ways we might keep ourselves and our loved ones safe.
On Friday 19th May
members of the Safer Neighbourhood Team
(SNT) will be attending our Coffee Morning
) so people can meet and have an opportunity to chat with the police over a cup of tea. If you are aware of those who are particularly concerned at this time or members of our community who feel particularly vulnerable this will be a good opportunity for them to meet the police and receive reassurance from them.
On Wednesday 31st May there is a Join SNT Joint Ward Panel Meeting at Yiewsley Baptist Church. There will be refreshments from 7:00pm with the meeting starting at 7:30pm. This is a more formal event with presentations from the police and an opportunity for members of the Yiewsley and West Drayton communities to ask questions.
We are in discussions about a community vigil and details will become available in due course. Please do spread the word about these events, particularly to those you know who are worried at this time.
I think this coming month or so is one of the busiest we have, it is full of community events and activities so check out what’s on
and I look forward to seeing you in the coming days and weeks. To make it easier to stay up to date both the church (YiewsleyBaptistChurch/
) and I (@richblakelobb
) can be found on facebook so do like/friend so you can keep in touch.
Our regular events this month include Nursery Rhymes

With the forthcoming General Election we want to be able to hear from those people who are putting themselves forward to represent us in Parliament. We have invited the candidates from the most popular parties locally at the last election to participate in a Question Time style debate
with those who attend able to ask the questions about the issues that concern you. The debate will take place on 28th May from 7pm and is open to all but to help with planning free tickets are available from Eventbrite
Any finally we are most excited about our forth coming Community Fun Day
on Saturday 3rd June
from 11am-3pm. We have a small stage with performances confirmed from local artist Alanah Black and the Yiewsley and West Drayton Band amongst others, we still have a couple of spaces if you’d like to join in with dance, music or story telling. There will be stalls selling fair trade products, hand made pens, cards, plants, and cakes, etc. We have a number of charities including Yiewsley Cornerstone Centre, Harlington Hospice and the Community Cancer Centre. There will be a Fire Engine, bouncy castle, parachute games and plenty of fun activities. Plus there will be refreshments including home made cakes, sandwiches, teas, coffees, drinks and BBQ. The day will also include my Ordination at about 1:30pm.
