Order of Service

Call to Worship

All will stand in awe to praise You.
Praise will sweep through Zion, the Sacred City, O God.
Solemn vows uttered to You will now be performed.
You hear us pray in words and silence;
all humanity comes into Your presence.
Injustice overwhelms me!
But You forgive our sins, restoring as only You can.
(Psalm 62:1-3, The Voice)

He’s got all of our loved ones in His hands,
He’s got all of our neighbours in His hands,
He’s got all those who are strangers to us in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all of our fears in His hands,
He’s got all of our hopes in His hands,
He’s got all of our regrets in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all of our wrinkles in His hands,
He’s got all of our strengths in His hands,
He’s got all of our ailments in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all those who are full of faith in His hands,
He’s got all those who are faithless in His hands,
He’s got all those who feel lost in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got the fully able in His hands,
He’s got the disabled in His hands,
He’s got those we disable His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all those who are filled with anger in His hands,
He’s got all those who are full of pain in His hands,
He’s got all of the carers in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all those who are poor in spirit in His hands,
He’s got all those who mourn in His hands,
He’s got all those who are seeking righteousness in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

He’s got all those who are merciful in His hands,
He’s got all those who are peacemakers in His hands,
He’s got all those who are healers in His hands,
He’s got the whole world in His hands!

You leave us breathless
when Your awesome works answer us
by putting everything right.
God of our liberation—
You are the hope of all creation,

from the far corners of the earth
to distant life-giving oceans.

(Psalm 62:5, The Voice)

You’ve got the whole world in Your hands!

Personal Reflection:

Whether you are able to join us on Zoom or not this is a guide to help you reflect on the readings above. If you are on your own enjoy the time to reflect quietly. If you are home with others who would usually be at church with you find some time together. You can make notes as you follow each stage or may choose to talk with one another.

Take some time.
5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, it’s up to you.

Read through the Bible reading
Read it steadily two or three times or use the listening feature of the link above.

Notice which words or themes stand out to you.
You might like to make a note of them or highlight them in a physical Bible.

Notice how the reading makes you feel.
For example, is it comforting? Does it make you feel frustrated or angry? Does it make you feel excited?

Notice what or who the reading make you think about?
For example, Does the reading resonate with something in your own life? Or, are their words that make you think of someone else? Is there something that would be helpful to share with others?

Say a Prayer.
(The following is an example; you can use it or say your own)

Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Thank you for the Bible, for the lessons we can learn and the guidance You give. I thought about [insert who and what the readings made you think about] and I would like to offer them into your hands. Be with them, with me, with us today. Amen.
