At Yiewsley Baptist Church we have been thinking about hope and as part of this we have been making origami cranes.
Origami cranes are a symbol of hope and peace. As a church we are thinking about our hopes as individuals and as a community. We invited members of the church and the local community to get involved; to fold a crane and add it to the flock which grew as a symbol of hope for our community. The flock of peace crane was displayed in the church between October and December 2016.
The cranes have now flown with a message of hope released for the community. Businesses, organisations and community groups based in and around Yiewsley are receiving a peace crane with a view to encouraging the local community to come together in sharing hope.
As part of a week of prayer we are hosting a Community Breakfast and inviting those who receive a peace crane to come along to discuss and share hopes we have for the local community.
If you have not come across peace cranes before then this article gives a good background.
