Advent Season Special Services

Posted on

Over the coming weeks as we look forward to Christmas we have a number of special services in addition to our usual Sunday Morning Worship.

On 2nd December, 10:30am we have a Nativity from Scratch… no one knows what is going to happen or who will be involved. If you turn up there is a role for you if you would like it! Wear your own costume or borrow one of our many outfits. Be a sheep, an angel, Mary, Joseph, a shepherd, a wise man or woman, or even play the role of Herod.

There will be songs and plenty of laughter! It is going to be fun.

On 16th December, 6:30pm we will be enjoying Carols by Candlelight and we will be joined by our friends from the Cornerstone Arabic Christian Fellowship. We’ll be singing traditional carols, possibly some with a twist, and probably some in both English and Arabic at the same time. Come along and join us for a festive evening!

On 24th December, 3:00pm we quieten things down with a Reflective Service that will include time of silence, guided prayers and an opportunity to share in communion together.

Finally on Christmas Day itself we’ll be celebrating at 10:30am with upbeat Christmas Day worship and a chance to show us some of the little gifts we have received as we give thanks to God!

Come along to any or all of these seasonal services as we wait and prepare for the coming of Jesus, Immanuel, God with Us.

Community Kitchen Consultation

Yiewsley Community Kitchen

We have a vision to bring the community together and it needs the community to make it happen.

We are looking for volunteers to get involved in setting up a Community Kitchen with a view to running coffee mornings, community meals, bereavement cafes, craft cafes, baby cafes, space for young people and more.

The first step is to see who is interested and to share ideas. So we are having the same meeting 3 times to enable different members of the community to get involved at a time that works for you… 10am, 2pm or 7pm on Friday 16th November.

The key skill we are looking for is befriending!

If this sounds interesting we’d love to meet you, discuss ideas and begin to see our vision becoming a reality.

Latest News & What’s On

For all the latest news and information about what’s on our Summer newsletter is now out.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Community Fun Day at the end of June. We had a fun time and from the feedback we’ve received so did you. We are hoping to build on this success and include more community groups and charities in the years ahead.

As the school summer holidays approach we are taking a break from a few of our regular activities but also planning for the next term. There is the annual picnic in the park (10th Aug), our next charity quiz night (8th Sept) and plans afoot to develop some of the facilities we offer at the church. As we seek to support our local community we also like to let you know of other things that may be of interest so if you are worried about the cost of meals over the school holidays the Foodbank are here to help out, plus the Community Forum is looking to maintain our green spaces and not lose park space to development.

So click here and read more about what’s going on in and around the church and community…
